About This Section

Altering Metallurgy for Lasting Performance

Heat treatment is a critical process in metallurgy and material science that alters the physical and sometimes chemical properties of a material to enhance its performance and durability. Through controlled heating and cooling, Pivot Fabrique's Heat Treatment Section transforms component microstructure — delivering superior hardness, wear resistance, toughness, and fatigue life. All 19 furnaces operate in-house under ISO/TS 16949:2009 quality control, with full traceability on every batch.

Surface Hardening

Induction hardening and nitriding deliver precise surface hardness without compromising core toughness.

Case Carburising

Controlled carbon diffusion for deep case depth — ideal for gears, shafts, and transmission components.

Stress Relieving

Tempering and shaker hearth cycles relieve residual stress and stabilise component dimensions post-hardening.

Atmosphere Control

Reducing and endothermic atmosphere furnaces prevent oxidation and decarburisation throughout the cycle.

Treatment Workflow

From Machined Part to Heat-Treated Component

Every component entering our heat treatment section follows a structured, quality-verified thermal cycle — ensuring consistent case depth, hardness profile, and dimensional stability across every batch.

Furnace Selection & Setup
Correct furnace selected per process route. Temperature profile, atmosphere, soak time, and quench medium set to drawing specification.
03
🌡️
Thermal Cycle
Controlled heat-up, soak at target temperature, and quench or controlled cooling — carburise, nitride, harden, or temper as specified.
04
🔬
Hardness Verification
Vickers hardness tested on batch samples — surface hardness, case depth, and core properties verified against drawing requirements.
05
Batch Release
Cleared with heat treatment record and hardness report — tagged and routed to grinding, plating, or final inspection per process route.
Why Our Heat Treatment Section

The Advantage of Our Thermal Processing Floor

With 6 distinct thermal processes — induction hardening, carburising, nitriding, tempering, rotary, and reducing atmosphere — our heat treatment section handles the full spectrum of metallurgical requirements for automotive, defence, and industrial components, entirely in-house without outsourcing.

Induction Hardening

Localised surface hardening up to 1000°C — hard case, tough core, minimal geometric distortion on shafts, pins, and high-wear surfaces.

⚗️

Gas Carburising

Carbon diffusion at up to 1100°C in endothermic atmosphere — deep, consistent case depth for gears and transmission parts.

🌡️

Nitriding — Zero Quench Distortion

Nitrogen diffusion at up to 1000°C — extreme surface hardness with no quench distortion on tight-tolerance components.

🔬

In-House Hardness Testing

Vickers hardness tester on-site — every batch verified before release, no external lab dependency or turnaround delays.

🔄

Fully Automatic Shaker Hearth

Automated batch processing at 800°C–1100°C for consistent cycle times and repeatability at high production volumes.

📦

Integrated with Grinding & Plating

Heat treatment feeds directly into grinding, plating, and quality sections — complete single-vendor process continuity.
